I’m on a Mission and I want You to Join

It’s been a minute since I last wrote you {and for some of you, this might be the first time!} – I’ve been in a bit of a refocus phase, in all honesty, I was a little burnt out from promoting Break the Diet Cycle. It’s in full swing and rolling along and I’ve been able to take a deep breath.

I’ve been reflecting and thinking about the bigger picture for me and you. I’ve been thinking more about what I want to bring into the world. And I’m ready to share it with you. Here’s what I’ve been thinking about lately and when I sat down to finally write it, it poured out of me – brought tears to my eyes and ignited a spark so strong that now that it’s turned on, I don’t think I can turn it off.  I’m excited to have you here on this journey, reading these words, feeling my passion, and hearing first why I believe so strongly that you’re in the right place, with me, on this mission to shake things up a bit.

Here’s what came out:

I want you to feel free in your body.

I want you to feel like you’re not fighting against it, but rather working together, in tandem, to feel like your best self in all areas of your life.

I want you to see that you don’t need to “fix” anything.

I want you to feel like you’re not next to being in love with your body. But that you appreciate it and see all the wonder that it has to offer.

I want you to feel empowered to say, no thanks, to all the contradictory nutritional information out there.

I want you to be armed with a deeper understanding of your unique body – not what someone else is telling you how it should, look, feel, be, etc.

I want you to know that you don’t have to choose between living your life and feeling really good in your own skin.

I want you to know that it’s not an either-or situation.

It’s an and both.

I want you to know that you don’t have to diet anymore.

You can feel like your body isn’t separate from you.

You can feel like the, not the best version, but truly YOU through and through.

And I want you to know above all else – that food isn’t to be feared. It’s THE answer.

As women, we have been told our ENTIRE lives that we need to fix, shape, change, tweak, remove parts of ourselves, and be physically smaller.  Our culture has passed down this story to us from generation to generation and it’s a flat out lie. We have been brainwashed to no longer listen to our own intuition and our own body.  We have been taught that we don’t know what we need on a primal, physical level. We have been told that we need to listen to someone else in order to get our own power back – our own vitality, our own health, and our own freedom in our body.

I’m here to tell you this isn’t true.

This book is giving you back your power.

The power to define yourself, your health, and your body on YOUR OWN TERMS and along the way, we’re going to debunk the nutritional myths that were designed to make you scared of your own intuition and your own body.

You don’t have to choose between living or dieting.  But if you do, I hope you choose to live.

This is what I believe in my heart of hearts, and guess what, you just read the introduction to the book that I’m writing! Ahhhhhh!

Yes, I’m writing a book and I’m bringing you on the journey. Part because I want you on this journey with me and, you know, also for my own accountability!  But even more so, I want this to be a conversation. I want you to share with me what comes up for you as you read these sections of my book – as it unfolds, organically.  I want you to tell me what you need so that I can make sure that it comes through. In short, I’m sharing my vision, my story, my own journey of how I found freedom in my body so that you can do the same because I want that for you.  I can find no other way to share all that I have to share other than in a book. So here we go!

I’d love to hear your thoughts, what’s come up for you when reading this? Do you have the spark too?

I really want to be able to flip the switch and feel comfortable and not like I need to change myself. I still feel like there is something wrong in me that needs fixing. After decades of hearing that and having it engrained in me I also need to be compassionate with myself and understand that it is a work in progress. It’s all easy to intellectualize not so easy to practice. With that said I feel like I am breaking the cycle with my own daughter. She is 8 and she is amazing! I only want her to feel that way. I never want her to feel less than amazing. I look forward to reading your book and more about your views. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Jessica – thank you so much for writing. And you are SO right – it is so easy in theory, but in application, it can be so tough. Small steps really do add up. Just being here, reading, writing, and seeing this in your daughter is huge. Give yourself some love – you’re doing great.xo
